Laboratory and Diagnostics Advisor – STRIDES Activity

About the role

The Laboratory and Diagnostics Advisor will provide technical leadership for the US Department of State‑funded STRIDES Activity in Bangladesh. Reporting to the STRIDES Technical Director, the role focuses on strengthening laboratory systems and diagnostic capacity to detect and respond to infectious disease threats.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of strategic initiatives that enhance laboratory infrastructure and diagnostic services.
• Provide technical guidance on challenges and strategies for building laboratory capacity and improving access to quality diagnostic testing.
• Collaborate closely with country‑level teams, project managers, technical providers, and key stakeholders to ensure high‑quality, reliable laboratory services.
• Develop and disseminate guidelines, standard operating procedures, and best‑practice documents for laboratory and diagnostic components.
• Support the integration of laboratory activities within the broader STRIDES health security framework.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading laboratory system strengthening or diagnostic capacity projects, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Familiarity with infectious disease detection and surveillance initiatives.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills applied to technical challenges.
