Public Finance Management Expert (Bangladesh)

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is seeking a Public Finance Management Expert to support Bangladesh’s recovery and reconstruction efforts. Working remotely from Dhaka, the consultant will provide technical assistance to strengthen public finance systems and ensure they are aligned with the “Build Back Better” principles of the Sendai Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support to government agencies for assessing and enhancing public finance readiness in disaster recovery.
• Assist in institutionalizing finance mechanisms that enable resilient recovery and reconstruction.
• Contribute to UNDRR Deliverable 4.2.1 by preparing analyses, reports, and recommendations.
• Coordinate with the International Recovery Platform and other UN partners to align financial strategies with the Sendai Framework priorities.
• Support capacity‑building activities for national stakeholders involved in recovery financing.

Required profile

• Proven experience in public finance management, preferably in post‑disaster or development contexts.
• Familiarity with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and “Build Back Better” concepts.
• Experience working with government institutions and international organizations.
