Accountant III - Partner Finance and Capacity Building

About the role

Compassion is looking for an experienced finance professional in Dhaka, Bangladesh, to work with a wide network of partner organizations across the country. The role provides financial guidance, monitoring, training and support to help partners improve financial accountability, strengthen compliance and build local capacity. It is not a desk-based accounting role: a significant part of the work involves field visits, training and coaching partners.

Key responsibilities

• Review financial reports and supporting documentation from partners, analyze financial data and support partners in addressing audit findings
• Provide practical guidance on accounting processes, internal controls and financial reporting
• Plan and facilitate training sessions, develop learning materials and coach partner finance teams
• Travel to partner locations for monitoring visits, spot checks and financial reviews, assessing compliance with policies and procedures
• Support compliance with organizational requirements and flag risks, recommending corrective actions
• Work with finance, training, partnership and leadership colleagues to improve systems and partner effectiveness

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• At least 7 years of experience in accounting, finance, audit, compliance, financial monitoring or partner finance management
• Experience with INGOs, development organizations or donor-funded programs, and with partner organizations
• Experience reviewing financial reports and strong facilitation, training and stakeholder management skills
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout Bangladesh
• Preferred: professional accounting certification or progress toward Chartered Accountant, Master's degree, and experience with large partner networks

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of financial controls, compliance and reporting requirements
• Knowledge of Bangladesh tax and VAT regulations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
