Childminder (Babysitter) for Humanitarian Operations

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a compassionate Childminder to provide safe, age‑appropriate childcare for beneficiaries’ children while families participate in operational activities in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. This role supports humanitarian programmes by ensuring children are cared for in a nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct childcare services to children of beneficiaries during program activities.
• Deliver age‑appropriate, safety‑sensitive care and basic learning activities, including games related to resettlement and family reunification.
• Maintain and safeguard toys, books, learning materials, posters and furniture in designated childcare areas.
• Report any damage or missing items to Operations staff and keep them informed of material needs.
• Keep the childcare area clean and safe, assisting cleaning staff with vacuuming, dusting and waste removal as needed.
• Provide food and water to children, ensuring hygienic consumption.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Experience caring for children of various ages in a safe, nurturing setting.
• Ability to engage children in basic educational and recreational activities.
• Attention to detail in maintaining clean and organized childcare spaces.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with Operations staff and facilitators.
