Country Business Manager - Bangladesh and Maldives (Contract)

About the role

AstraZeneca is hiring a Country Business Manager for its Frontier Markets business in Bangladesh and Maldives, based in South Asia. This is a contract-based position under an outsourced management model, working with the AstraZeneca Asia Area - Frontier Markets Department. The role drives business performance and P&L through distributor management, leads market strategy and product launches, and aligns cross-functional partners to deliver sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Own business performance and P&L in assigned Frontier markets through distributor teams.
• Coordinate with medical, marketing and regulatory teams to identify launch brands and optimise opportunities in the AZ portfolio.
• Own strategies, tactics and marketing plans and improve them where needed.
• Maintain strong relationships with local distributors, remove barriers and ensure smooth distributor operations.
• Prepare markets for new launches across therapy areas and align regulatory, legal and operational stakeholders.
• Work with export hub, regulatory, finance and distributor teams to keep stock levels adequate and collections on time.
• Manage resources to meet business KPIs, regulatory timelines and market-share targets, and build long-term business in the country.
• Evaluate local partners, onboard them, and run local team medical training on compliance and policies.
• Follow AZ's code of conduct and local guidelines.

Required profile

• Academic background in science and medicine.
• Extensive experience in relationships and stakeholder management.
• Proven experience in a similar role.
• Fluent English reading, writing and speaking.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, written and presentation skills, and a highly organised, results-focused approach.

Required skills

• Knowledge of marketing and sales drivers and systems and processes.
• Basic science and product knowledge.
• Financial acumen and understanding of the healthcare system.
• Enterprise mindset, able to collaborate across functions and hierarchies and influence stakeholders locally and globally.
