Technical Director – STRIDES Program

About the role

The STRIDES Technical Director will lead the technical components of the STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) activity in Bangladesh, supporting the U.S. Global Health Security program’s effort to improve disease detection and response. FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization that has operated in Bangladesh for over 45 years, delivering integrated health, education, and economic programs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and direct technical focus areas across the STRIDES activity.
• Align STRIDES technical frameworks with national health security priorities and Joint External Evaluation (JEE) improvement targets.
• Coordinate technical work plans, monitor progress, and ensure alignment with JEE score enhancement goals.
• Collaborate with government, civil society, academia, and private‑sector partners to strengthen laboratory and surveillance systems.
• Support emergency response operations and compliance with International Health Regulations (IHR).

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience leading technical programs in global health security.
• Familiarity with infectious disease detection, surveillance, and laboratory strengthening.
• Experience working with multi‑sectoral partners in low‑resource settings.
