Bangladesh Field Officer

About the role

GiveDirectly is hiring a Field Officer for its Bangladesh programs, based in Gaibandha District. The officer reports to the Associate Field Manager and works with the project team and stakeholders to make sure project activities, monitoring and reporting are carried out effectively. The position is a three-month contractual assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Support and monitor the implementation of planned and community-level activities, including helping the Safeguarding team with capacity-building programs and supporting the GD program team during field visits.
• Identify gaps in services affecting project recipients and gather insights on how floods affect communities in the study areas.
• Engage and mobilize community participation, including vulnerable groups, and organize training sessions, workshops and awareness campaigns.
• Build relationships with local government authorities, partner organizations, community leaders and NGOs, and take part in stakeholder meetings at community, union, upazila and district levels.
• Visit sites regularly to assess implementation progress and provide detailed field reports on beneficiary feedback, challenges and recommendations.
• Help verify and document flood occurrences and their impacts.
• Ensure the safety of recipients and others from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation, and follow safeguarding reporting procedures.

Required profile

• At least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
• At least five years of experience working with local communities, government agencies, partner organizations and NGOs/INGOs.
• Strong understanding of disaster management, climate resilience and community engagement.
• Fluency in Bengali and English, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Experience in field assessments, training and community sensitization.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office / G-Suite applications.
