About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a leading humanitarian organization responding to crises worldwide. The Community Outreach Officer will lead educational and promotional activities focused on reproductive health for women and girls in Bangladesh, supporting IRC’s mission to restore health, safety, and dignity.
Key responsibilities
- Liaise with volunteer groups, community mobilizers, and protection case workers to ensure efficient referrals to health facilities.
- Identify and refer persons of concern with acute medical needs, coordinating night‑time referrals with porters and stretcher services.
- Ensure eligible individuals receive primary health‑care services such as immunization, antenatal and post‑natal care, and nutrition support, and follow up on service utilization.
- Track referrals and vaccinations for pregnant women and monitor mothers for danger signs.
- Supervise a network of community volunteers and traditional birth attendants.
- Conduct community awareness and mobilization activities related to reproductive health.
Required profile
- Solutions‑driven, passionate change‑maker with experience in community outreach or health promotion.
- Knowledge of reproductive health issues and ability to work with vulnerable populations.
- Strong coordination skills to manage volunteers and collaborate with multiple stakeholder groups.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
