National Government Liaison Officer

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Government Liaison Officer to support and facilitate engagement with government institutions in Bangladesh. Reporting to the Chief of Mission, the officer will provide analysis, advisory support, and coordination to ensure timely implementation of IOM programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and maintain relationships with key national stakeholders, including government officials, civil society, academia, and the private sector.
• Provide liaison support to programme units for obtaining government clearances, permits, licences and duty or VAT exemptions.
• Monitor and analyse changes in government policies and advise IOM management on engagement and implementation strategies.
• Coordinate official communications and correspondence with national authorities, ensuring consistency with protocols.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Social Sciences or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Experience in liaison and protocol matters with government entities, preferably within an international or UN organization.
• Fluency in English and Bengali (oral and written).
