Project Manager – Climate Finance and Resilience

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the Inclusive Budgeting and Financing for Climate Resilience (IBFCR) Phase II project, supporting Bangladesh’s transition to climate‑responsive public financial management. The role involves close collaboration with UNDP units, government ministries and local authorities to embed climate considerations into budgeting and finance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the IBFCR Phase II project in Bangladesh.
• Coordinate with the UNDP Operations Unit, Programme Cluster, the Finance Division and other line ministries to integrate climate considerations into budgeting processes and public finance tracking.
• Develop and deliver training sessions on climate‑responsive public financial management for finance staff and line ministries.
• Establish monitoring mechanisms and accountability frameworks for climate‑related expenditures.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and adaptive leadership for complex development projects.
• Experience working with government finance ministries, climate finance frameworks and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Knowledge of Bangladesh’s climate policies such as the Bangladesh Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan (BCCSAP), National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills with national and local authorities.
