Senior Protection Coordinator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Senior Protection Coordinator to lead its protection programming in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. This senior position provides strategic and technical leadership to ensure high‑quality protection outcomes for Rohingya refugees and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and technical oversight for protection activities, ensuring alignment with the theory of change, donor requirements and organizational policies.
• Lead the development and execution of work, spending and procurement plans, and monitor activity progress.
• Support adaptive programming by identifying risks, challenges and opportunities, and proposing practical solutions.
• Ensure protection principles, safeguarding, gender, inclusion and conflict‑sensitivity are mainstreamed across all interventions.
• Supervise and mentor the Women Protection and Empowerment, Child Protection, and Protection & Rule of Law teams.
• Represent IRC Bangladesh in the Protection Cluster and related coordination forums.
• Contribute to business development, donor engagement and proposal writing.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian protection programming, preferably in refugee contexts.
• Proven leadership and team‑management skills.
• Strong understanding of protection standards, safeguarding and gender‑based violence frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
