Software Engineer - React Native (AI Chat App)

About the role

Gigalogy, a Tokyo-based AI company, is building a next-generation AI chat application and needs a React Native engineer to build it for iOS and Android. The role is based in Dhaka and involves designing, developing and maintaining a high-performance cross-platform AI chat app, working closely with backend engineers, UI/UX designers and the product team.

Key responsibilities

• Build chat UI components such as message lists, streaming text rendering, markdown/rich content display, voice input and animations.
• Integrate RESTful APIs and real-time services (SSE/WebSocket) with optimistic UI updates, and handle network interruptions, retries and offline scenarios.
• Implement local persistence for conversation history and offline support (SQLite, WatermelonDB, MMKV or AsyncStorage).
• Manage application state with Redux, Zustand, Context API or similar, and optimize performance, responsiveness and battery efficiency.
• Integrate push notifications, deep linking and analytics, and ensure secure storage, encryption and token management for user data.
• Debug issues across Android and iOS, take part in code reviews, write technical documentation and improve development processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 1.5 years of hands-on React Native experience.
• Experience building chat or real-time messaging UIs, and integrating REST APIs and real-time data.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, and ability to work in an agile environment.

Required skills

• JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript
• React Native, React Hooks and React Navigation
• State management (Redux, Zustand, Context API)
• Git, npm or Yarn, and knowledge of Android and iOS lifecycles
• Preferred: app store publishing, native modules (Kotlin/Java or Swift), CI/CD (Fastlane, EAS, GitHub Actions), testing (Jest, Detox), Firebase and Expo
