Humanitarian Affairs Officer – AIT Liaison (UN OCHA)

About the role

The Humanitarian Affairs Officer will serve as a senior humanitarian officer within OCHA’s Humanitarian Financing Unit in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. Reporting to the Head of Office and working closely with the Head of the Humanitarian Financing Unit, the incumbent will provide strategic advice on humanitarian accountability and impact, and supervise the P3 Information Management Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Advise senior leadership on humanitarian policy, accountability principles and the integration of human‑rights considerations.
• Monitor, analyse and report on humanitarian developments and disaster‑relief programmes that may affect funding decisions.
• Lead and coordinate large‑scale disaster assessments and emergency response missions, ensuring appropriate staffing, funding, equipment and supplies.
• Prepare situation reports and appeals for international assistance, highlighting unmet needs and resource gaps.
• Supervise the Information Management Officer and ensure accurate data collection and dissemination.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian coordination, emergency response and multi‑donor financing.
• Proven ability to provide senior‑level strategic advice and to lead complex, multi‑stakeholder projects.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, accountability mechanisms and human‑rights linkages.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and communication skills.
