Project Director - BSS Managed Services Transformation

About the role

A telecom company is looking for a Project Director with deep expertise in telecom project management to lead a BSS Managed Service transformation program for a Tier-1 operator. The role covers program governance, integration and migration project leadership, multi-vendor coordination and risk-managed delivery, overseeing end-to-end planning, execution and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large-scale BSS transformation programs covering migration, integration, rollout and managed service transition
• Set up project governance, steering committees and PMO-level reporting, and manage timelines, resources, dependencies and deliverables
• Apply PMP/PRINCE2/Agile practices and project controls for cost, schedule, quality and risk
• Act as the main link between customer executives and delivery units, and manage vendors, system integrators and cross-functional teams
• Run steering committee meetings, change control boards and risk review boards
• Maintain a risk framework, ensure SLA and contractual compliance, and run post-implementation reviews
• Support contract negotiation, SLA/KPI definition, financial tracking and vendor performance management
• Oversee CRM, billing, charging, mediation, order management, product catalog and revenue management, including cutover, data migration, UAT and go-live
• Lead and coach a cross-functional delivery team

Required profile

• 15+ years in telecom IT/BSS, with at least 8 years in Project/Program Director roles
• Proven track record of end-to-end BSS transformation, integration or migration projects in a managed services environment
• Experience with multi-vendor environments and complex stakeholder groups (operators, OEMs, integrators)
• Understanding of telecom processes such as Order-to-Cash, Lead-to-Cash and Trouble-to-Resolve
• Desirable: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Computer Science or Business Administration

• Negotiation and communication skills in customer-facing settings
• Advantageous: experience with Amdocs, Ericsson, Huawei, Netcracker, Qvantel or Nokia; knowledge of Digital BSS, Cloud BSS, 5G monetization or microservices architecture
