Research Assistant – Climate Mobility Project

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Research Assistant to support its climate mobility portfolio in Bangladesh. The role will contribute to evidence‑based research and technical guidance that inform national climate adaptation and migration policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the implications of Bangladesh’s graduation from Least Developed Country status on climate‑change response, focusing on displacement and climate mobility.
• Conduct research on the health impacts of climate‑induced migration, with attention to gender‑differentiated effects.
• Map diaspora associations in EU Member States linked to project‑supported countries to identify engagement opportunities for climate resilience.
• Pilot the Technical Guide on addressing human mobility challenges within the context of climate change, using Bangladesh’s National Adaptation Plan as a case study.
• Develop an implementation framework to integrate climate mobility considerations into national climate planning processes.
• Assist in preparing a technical guide for accessing financial resources to mitigate displacement impacts.
