Director, Commercial

About the role

foodpanda, part of the Delivery Hero Group, is looking for an ambitious Director of Commercial to report to the Managing Director. The role plans, develops and implements commercial strategies aligned with company objectives, with the main aim of supporting and accelerating merchant growth. It also involves advising senior management on trends and promoting commercial activities to generate revenue and sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement commercial strategies that set where to play and how to win, and lead the identification and prioritization of target segments with tailored go-to-market approaches
• Own initiatives to grow key commercial metrics and short-term, mission-critical projects, ensuring measurable outcomes
• Manage and grow relationships with key partners, stakeholders and vendors
• Lead and develop a high-performing commercial team, including training them to run QBRs with merchants using pitch/play books
• Identify and fix operational bottlenecks through a bottom-up approach, and define targets, KPIs and performance metrics with regular reporting
• Design compensation models for commercial staff and continuously optimize productivity and customer experience

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics or a related field; Master's preferred
• 15 years of progressive commercial leadership experience, ideally in a high-growth, tech-driven or platform/e-commerce environment
• Proven track record of commercial strategy execution and revenue growth, and of leading sales or commercial teams
• Cross-functional experience with operations, finance, marketing and product teams

• Analytical, strategic and operational decision-making, with comfort using data, forecasting and reporting tools
• Stakeholder management and the ability to influence senior leaders and regional/global teams
• Ability to diagnose operational issues and lead continuous improvement
• Strong communication and presentation skills
