Land Acquisition and Resettlement Specialist (Senior)

About the role

We are seeking a senior specialist to lead and support land acquisition and resettlement activities for a major infrastructure project in Dhaka. The role involves planning, implementing and documenting all land‑related processes, ensuring compliance with local laws and project safeguards while minimizing social impacts.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, review and analyse cadastral maps, land ownership records and legal documents to define acquisition needs.
• Conduct field investigations and verify land boundaries and ownership status in coordination with survey teams and government agencies.
• Prepare a comprehensive Land Acquisition Plan (LAP) that identifies affected parcels, impacts and mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Sub‑Registrar, Land Office and other authorities to obtain required records and approvals.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for compensation, relocation assistance, livelihood restoration and administrative expenses.
• Liaise with engineering, social, environmental and finance teams to align cost estimates with project design and implementation schedules.

Required profile

• Graduation in Social Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in land acquisition, resettlement or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of Bangladesh land laws, regulations and safeguard requirements.
• Proven ability to work with government agencies and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
