Resident Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Resident Quantity Surveyor will oversee the financial performance of building projects covering architectural, civil and MEP works. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure accurate cost control from design through to final payment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for proposed designs and construction projects.
• Analyse project specifications and drawings to forecast expenses.
• Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial control.
• Compare supplier and subcontractor quotes with market prices to optimise costs.
• Draft, review and negotiate contract terms with clients and contractors.
• Manage variations, claims and change orders during execution.
• Resolve disputes related to contracts, payments and project scope.
• Conduct cost comparisons and risk assessments for procurement decisions.
• Monitor project expenditures and track cost deviations.
• Measure and value completed work for interim and final payments, certifying contractor payments based on progress.
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to the project.

Required profile

• BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or Civil Engineering from a recognised university.
• 6‑8 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost control and contract administration within construction, consultancy or PMC environments.
• Proven experience managing commercial aspects of building construction projects.
