Senior Resettlement Specialist

About the role

The Senior Resettlement Specialist will lead a multidisciplinary team to design and implement resettlement and land acquisition programmes for large‑scale infrastructure projects. The role ensures compliance with national legislation and World Bank safeguard policies while minimizing social impacts and supporting affected communities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and execution of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) in line with the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF).
• Conduct social impact assessments to identify project‑affected persons and potential risks.
• Develop and implement strategies for land acquisition, compensation, livelihood restoration, and community engagement.
• Ensure gender‑based violence (GBV) risk mitigation and address community health and safety concerns.
• Monitor resettlement progress, manage grievance redress mechanisms and report to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Science or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in social screening, RAP preparation, GBV risk mitigation, and community health and safety.
• Proven experience on World Bank or other development‑partner funded projects.
• Strong understanding of national land acquisition laws and donor safeguard policies.
