Secondary Social/Emotional Counselor

About the role

The school is seeking a Secondary Social/Emotional Counselor to provide wellbeing support for students in Grades 6‑12 and staff. You will be the first point of contact for students, teachers and parents, delivering counseling and mediation services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑on‑one and small‑group counseling, mediation, family counseling and classroom guidance.
• Lead the Crisis Intervention Team with the Secondary Principal and oversee the Student Support Team.
• Support structured programs such as Homework and Organizational Planning Skills, Peer Support Mediators, school transitions, Restorative Practice and the PSHE/SEL curriculum.
• Partner with parents through individual sessions and workshops on adolescent development, student protection and wellbeing.
• Support teachers through counseling, mediation and professional development on child protection and wellbeing.
• Maintain confidential counseling records and liaise with Child Protection Officers.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in school counseling, psychology, social work or related field.
• Recognized counseling or psychology license or certification.
• Experience as a school counselor with secondary‑aged students, preferably in an international school.
• Training or experience in child protection and student support.

• Knowledge of restorative practice and SEL/PSHE programs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Sound judgment, discretion and careful confidential record‑keeping.
